How do you know if you’re actually going through a midlife crisis? Here are 20 questions to help you identify the symptoms. Answer yes or no for each.

  • Do you feel more adventurous like you want to try something different? 
  • Are you yearning for meaningful changes in fundamental aspects of your daily life?  
  • Are you feeling stressed or insecure about signs of aging? Do you find your job unsatisfying?
  • Are you looking for new challenges or do you want to go in a new direction?
  • Is the awareness of mortality hitting home?  
  • Do you experience a growing discontent with a lifestyle that may have once provided happiness
  • Are you bored with the people, pursuits, and material possessions that once held more interest?
  • Do you question the meaning of life?  
  • Are you feeling more tired than in the past?  
  • Are you experiencing either increased or decreased ambition?  
  • Are you searching for something, bit not sure exactly what that is?  
  • Do you fantasize about walking away from your life?  
  • Are you trying to look, act, and feel younger than your age? 
  • Are you becoming too involved in the lives of your adult children?  
  • Are you restless and would like to try something completely different?  
  • Are you overly concerned and worried about your weight and physical appearance?  
  • Is your health becoming more of a concern?  
  • Do you notice yourself questioning social expectations and societal rules that inhibit your self-expression? 

If you answered yes to 5 or more of these questions, then you may be experiencing a midlife crisis!
