However, it’s an extremely effective one, and the most cost-effective first step in having clearer, glowing skin in midlife!

So, before experimenting with topical solutions, why not invest your time and money into improving your digestive health and building from there?

The gut is where most of your immune system lives. This is where your body makes nutrients and neurotransmitters, creates detoxifying enzymes, neutralizes pathogens and performs other important functions.

And, if not working properly, an out of whack digestive system can wreak havoc on your health and complexion!

Here’s what happens to your skin when you get a good night’s sleep:

  • There is an increase in blood flow.
  • The skin rebuilds collagen.
  • The body has an opportunity to repair damage from UV exposure.
  • Sleep reduces the appearance of wrinkles and age spots.

It can be difficult to get a good night sleep due to the symptoms of perimenopause or menopause.

However, I have found a few all natural tricks that help me to sleep like a baby most nights, despite the hot flashes and trips to the bathroom.

  • Wake up at 5 AM no matter what. I wake up at 5 AM everyday. Well, if I’m being totally honest, my alarm goes off at 5 AM and I usually get out of bed by 5:10. As a self-proclaimed night person, I can honestly say that this one change improved my life tenfold. It also helps if you have something to look forward to. Personally, I use this time to write and meditate.
  • Exercise everyday. Whether you practice yoga, cycle, or go for a walk, do something everyday. Moving your body is essential to a good night’s sleep. So, it’s worth making it a priority.
  • Have a nighttime routine. I am a HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) and therefore, I have to be very conscious of what I read or watch prior to falling asleep. So, I’ve developed a soothing nighttime routine that helps me to calmly drift off to sleep. Some of my routine includes not being on my phone or computer for several hours before bed. I also do not watch any disturbing or violent television shoes. (This includes reality television or true crime.)

3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Drinking water first thing in the morning is a healthy way to start your day.

When you drink water on an empty stomach, you effectively clear your body of toxins. And, this keeps your skin healthy and glowing!

That’s because it creates more oxygenated blood which stimulates the growth of red blood cells.

By ingesting warm water, in particular, you can repair skin cells and stop premature aging.

4. An Effective Anti-Aging Cleansing and Moisturizing Routine

Cleansers

If you want a complete skin care regime, you cannot lose with Murad products. They have a huge range of products for every skin type and a reasonable price point.
